Senior Platform Engineer
Why Mintlify? =================
We're on a mission to empower builders.
- Massive reach: Our docs platform serves 100 million+ developers every year and powers documentation for 20,000+ companies, including Anthropic, Microsoft, PayPal, Spotify, Coinbase, X, and over 20% of the last YC batch.
- Small team, huge impact: We recently passed 65 employees and raised a $45 million Series B led by A16Z and Salesforce Ventures. Each new hire has a huge impact on shaping the company's trajectory.
- Culture of slope over y-intercept: We value learning velocity, grit, and unapologetically unique personalities.
We grew in value faster than headcount and we’re looking to align the two quickly.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll own critical systems from architecture through production. You’ll set technical direction, raise the quality bar, and help engineers build and operate software faster and more reliably.
What you'll work on here ============================
You’ll lead the development of the systems that run Mintlify, taking ambiguous platform problems from first principles to production.
- Own critical platform systems: Architect and operate the infrastructure, services, and tooling that Mintlify’s engineers and products depend on.
- Set the direction for developer velocity: Improve how the team builds, tests, deploys, and operates software, leading the migrations needed to get there.
- Scale the platform for what’s next: Evolve our compute, databases, queues, caching, and edge systems as our products and customer base grow.
- Drive operational excellence: Improve observability, incident response, and operational automation while eliminating sources of on-call toil.
- Raise the engineering bar: Review designs, establish technical standards, mentor engineers, and make the broader team more effective.
You’ll have the chance to lead projects like: =================================================
- Re-architecting the Mintlify backend to support new levels of updates and traffic.
- Supporting multi-cloud deployments across regional and customer-managed environments.
- Building AI-first developer tools and redesigning APIs for agent-driven traffic.
What you bring to the table ===============================
- You have at least 4 years of professional software development experience.
- Platform expertise: You have deep experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, distributed systems, CI/CD, observability, and operating large-scale production software.
- You have led critical infrastructure projects from architecture through production.
- You make thoughtful tradeoffs across reliability, developer velocity, performance, security, and cost.
- You have strong product intuition and care about the developer experience created by the systems you build.
- You are comfortable working across infrastructure and application code to solve problems completely.
- You have experience mentoring engineers, sharing technical knowledge, and improving practices across a team.
- Plus: Experience with parts of our stack, including AWS, MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, and Node.js.
Why you should join our engineering team ============================================
- You’ll solve technically ambitious infrastructure problems alongside a team that values craft, speed, and thoughtful execution. Here’s a taste of what the team has built:
- Engineers here are product builders with high agency; you’ll drive change and have a voice in strategic decisions.
- You’ll have plenty of heads-down builder time on a small-but-mighty team where the best ideas win.
- We’ll find the intersection between what excites you and business priorities. You’ll own projects, ship, and see immediate impact.
