Sr. Technical Program Manager
Overview
Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead Hardware Server Platform development and delivery for Azure’s cloud technologies and services. You will have the opportunity to build cross-team partnerships to transform new hardware concepts into the final, scalable solution to be introduced to Microsoft’s Cloud (‘Concept to Live’).

SCHIE is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Silicon and Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's 200+ online businesses including Office 365, Bing, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure cloud services, including AI, compute, storage and networking.
Successful candidates will have a proven capability for technical program management, strong organizational skills and experience leading culture and change management. This role requires someone who has a strategic mindset with a deep understanding of hardware development and manufacturing processes, as well as a bias for action and ability to partner successfully with a wide group of stakeholders, from senior leaders to individual contributors and support staff.

Responsibilities
- Drive requirements derived from product planning into hardware and software teams.
- Partner with firmware development team to co-develop plans for firmware and development board bring-up.
- Manage schedules, deliverables, and hardware planning.
- Organize, present, and document technical and program reviews/status to Program team.
- Develop quality engineering programs which re-define how validation is performed in a hardware plus software program with ongoing development.
- Communicate with precision and clarity to drive alignment in both small and broad teams.
- Effectively collaborate, build relationships, and influence cross-functional team members to achieve product perfection.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos)
- 5+ years of experience in Systems design across all stages of the development and release cycles.
- 3+ years of experience with pre-silicon or post-silicon firmware development.
- 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Experience with hardware, firmware & software (system & application stack) interfaces across all modules in a system.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate technical content to general audience
- Demonstrate cross-functional experience
- Knowledge of datacenters & operation at scale.
- Knowledge of high-volume server design and manufacturing.
- Demonstrate ability to perform in a high paced product development environment.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
